With over 25 years of professional experience in marketing, advertising, media management, and website and graphic design, Shannon Sankar is delighted to spearhead the marketing initiatives for the Wayne Theatre. As Owner & Creative Director of Standout Arts, LLC, a Waynesboro Virginia-based marketing firm, Shannon leads a dedicated team of creative experts who are each eager to support the arts.
Shannon's journey began at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA, where she studied art before delving into website design and discovering the synergy between design and marketing messages.
In 1999, Shannon accepted the position of Creative Director for a Harrisonburg, VA-based radio group, mastering commercial copywriting and earning certification as a Professional Commercial Copywriter from the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB).
In 2004, Shannon co-founded a marketing and advertising firm in Harrisonburg, VA, where she managed the firm's creative marketing services for nearly a decade. Shannon’s projects included branding, graphic design, copywriting, and website development.
Adapting to the evolving advertising landscape and new technologies, Shannon delved into digital marketing, establishing her own marketing agency, Standout Arts, LLC, in 2013. Since that time, her team's accolades include three MarCom Awards, four Netty Awards, and three Muse Awards, including a 2024 Gold Muse Award for best website design. In 2024, her company, Standout Arts, was nominated as 'Best Small Business of the Year' through the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce. Today, Standout Arts partners with clients nationwide, from a variety industries and has provided marketing services for clients associated with internationally known brands, as well as businesses and organizations of all sizes and scales throughout the United States.
Shannon integrates both traditional and digital advertising into her clients' marketing strategies and is a Certified Social Media Specialist (HootSuite). The team at Standout Arts offers comprehensive expertise in dedicated areas of marketing including digital advertising, commercial photography, videography, graphic design, branding, campaign development, marketing strategy, media management, copywriting and consulting.
Residing in Waynesboro, VA with her husband of more than 25 years, Shannon finds joy in music, fitness and outdoor activities – and especially, in cherished family moments, including time spent with her husband and adult son. She enjoys classic television programs and vintage commercials.
