ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAM (For Students Grades 5-12)

This engaging presentation transports students back to 1949, in the aftermath of World War II, to explore the pivotal role of "big band" music in shaping post-war American entertainment. Led by bandleader, musician, historian, and educator Dan Gabel, alongside award-winning vocalist Kimberly Hawkey, students will discover how big bands influenced the American sound. They’ll hear iconic music from legends like Glenn Miller and Count Basie while experiencing a special tribute to the legendary singing bandleader, Vaughn Monroe, who shares a unique connection to Waynesboro. Students will learn all about it during this unforgettable Arts Education (AEP) program that's perfect for students in grades 5-12, band directors, music educators, and homeschooling families. Don’t miss this extraordinary learning experience!
