Beginning April 9: Preschool Workshops

“Creating Together” Preschool Workshop

Ages 2-3 and their parent/caregiver
Tuesday mornings 10:30-11 a.m.

Creative, theatrical play helps young kids gain confidence as well as to develop social, motor, and imaginative problem-solving skills. Our sessions encourage expression, creativity, and ensemble building. Through music, movement and innovative storytelling, we will explore ways to feed their imaginations while learning the basics of theatrical performance.

$40 per session/$12 single day

“Little Stars” Preschool Workshop

For 4-5 year olds
Tuesday mornings 11:15-11:45 a.m.

Encourage your child to flex their creative muscles in this playtime class. Our sessions will ignite your child’s imagination and develop important social, motor, and creative problem-solving skills. Using creative play, movement, storytelling, and music students will learn to create characters, explore new worlds, and to embrace their own little inner stars.

$45 per session/$15 single day

Our Instructor

Lesley Larsen
Larsen has been working as an actor for more than 20 years. She has a BFA in acting from Brigham Young University and her MLITT/MFA in Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature in Performance from Mary Baldwin College. She teaches theatre and acting at James Madison University. When she’s not teaching, she works professionally as a voice actor. She has performed with the American Shakespeare Center, the Actor’s Repertory Theatre Ensemble, 540, and exit, pursued among others. She has directed productions such as You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Into the Woods, and The History Boys. Last year she taught for the Imagination Stage Theatre Camp at the Wayne Theatre and is excited to be coming back this summer for more theatre camp fun. She also teaches Voice Acting and Improvisation at various theatres around the country. Lesley lives in Waynesboro with her husband and ridiculously cute girls.

The Wayne Theatre presents Alice in Wonderland, the new musical version, for two shows on Saturday, April 13, at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, April 14, at 3 p.m.

April 26: Mutts Gone Nuts

The comedy thrill show "Mutts Gone Nuts" comes to the Wayne Theatre for one show on Friday, April 26, at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $18.

May 3-5 and 10-12: The Bridges of Madison County Musical

The Wayne Theatre presents The Bridges of Madison County on May 3-5 and 10-12, 2019. Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with 3 p.m. Sunday matinees.

May 17: The Grand Gala with Mike Super

The Wayne Theatre presents The Grand Gala fundraiser on Friday, May 17, at 6 p.m. Dress to the nines and support the Wayne during our annual Gala event where we literally roll out the red carpet for you - our strongest supporters.

June 10-14: Imagination Stage Summer Camp

Using dramatic play movement, music, with a hint of visual art, we will explore variety of theatre subjects including improvisation, physical theatre, and acting. Recommended for grades K-5.

Production Camp: Junie B. Jones Jr. The Musical

During this two-week program June 17-28, students will work with Director Hank Fitzgerald and his creative team to present Junie B. Jones The Musical Jr. Recommended for Grades 4-12.

June 28-29: Junie B. Jones Jr. The Musical

Join Junie B. on her first day of first grade, where many changes are in store: Junie’s best friend Lucille has found new best friends - and Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school.

June 30: Nightingales of the Shenandoah Valley

The Wayne Theatre presents Nightingales of the Shenandoah Valley on Sunday, June 30, for one show at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students/$18 for adults.

August 8-18: Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical

The Wayne Theatre presents Matilda The Musical on August 8-11 and 15-18, 2019.
