2019 Spotlight Stage Summer Camps

Imagination Stage Summer Camp

Runs June 10-14, 2019

Grades, Rising K-1: 9 a.m. to noon
Grades, Rising 2-5: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Instructor: Lesley Larsen
Tuition: $125 per student

Using dramatic play movement, music, with a hint of visual art, we will explore variety of theatre subjects such (but not to limited to) improvisation, physical theatre, and acting. we will hone our theatre skills by exploring new creative paths and learning to take to create new characters and bring them to life through improvised play. we will celebrate our final class with a demonstration of the techniques we learned during the workshop.

 

Production Camp: Junie B. Jones Jr. The Musical

Runs June 17-28, 2019
June 17-21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
June 24-28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Performance dates:

June 29, 10:30 a.m.
Tickets: $12 adult/$5 student

Grades, Rising 4-12

Instructor: Hank Fitzgerald
Tuition: $295 per student

During this two-week program, students will work with Director Hank Fitzgerald and his creative team to present Junie B. Jones The Musical Jr. Students will audition and learn choreography, music and blocking as they rehearse and perform in this musical. There are also opportunities to learn and create behind the scenes. Join Junie B. on her first day of first grade, where many changes are in store: Junie’s best friend Lucille has found new best friends – and Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school.

Our Instructors

Lesley Larsen
Larsen has been working as an actor for more than 20 years. She has a BFA in acting from Brigham Young University and her MLITT/MFA in Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature in Performance from Mary Baldwin College. She teaches theatre and acting at James Madison University. When she’s not teaching, she works professionally as a voice actor. She has performed with the American Shakespeare Center, the Actor’s Repertory Theatre Ensemble, 540, and exit, pursued among others. She has directed productions such as You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Into the Woods, and The History Boys. Last year she taught for the Imagination Stage Theatre Camp at the Wayne Theatre and is excited to be coming back this summer for more theatre camp fun. She also teaches Voice Acting and Improvisation at various theatres around the country. Lesley lives in Waynesboro with her husband and ridiculously cute girls.

Sarah Nielsen Cramer
Cramer has bachelor’s degrees in Theatre Arts and Vocal Music from BYU, and is an experienced vocal coach, soloist and music director. Before coming to Virginia, she worked as a music director, choreographer and makeup designer with Utah Children’s Theatre in Salt Lake City, UT and Peninsula Youth Theatre in Mountain View, CA, where she also developed curriculum for education programs and camps. Past credits include Sweeney Todd (Music Director/Ensemble) and The Secret Garden at the Wayne Theatre, Crazy For You (Polly), Joseph … Dreamcoat (Narrator), Before Tonight (Music Director/soloist), Charlotte’s Web (Youth Music Director), The Hobbit (Youth Music Director) and Shrek at the Wayne Theatre (makeup artist). Sarah lives in Waynesboro with her husband and five children.
