Class’n the Wayne
A few months ago, a spirited member of the Waynesboro High School graduating class of 1969 contacted her fellow classmates and requested donations to support the renovation of the Wayne Theatre.
To date, that request has resulted in close to $4,000 raised for the theatre’s revitalization, half of which has been pledged by one class member. Doug Plette has pledged to match the class gift up to $5,000, so the class of ‘69 is now working its way toward a $10,000 gift to the new performing arts center.
So, all you graduates out there, Waynesboro, Wilson Memorial, Stuarts Draft, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, join in this challenge, send in your check. Restore your Wayne Theatre; bring it back, better than before.
WHS is leading the race with the class of 1969 currently in first place and the class of 1955 a close second… but it’s not over yet!
