2017-2018: On Screen/In-Person Film Series

2017-2018: On Screen/In-Person Film Series

The Wayne Theatre will host a second season of the On Screen/In-Person film series in 2017-2018.

The Historic Wayne Theatre/Ross Performing Arts Center was one of 10 sites selected (and the only site in Virginia) to present a series of six movies beginning in September through Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s On Screen/In Person program and the support of the National Endowment for the Arts.

On Screen/In Person is designed to bring some of the best new independent American films and their respective filmmakers to communities across the Mid-Atlantic region. The filmmakers will tour with their films and work with the host sites to develop community activities that provide audiences context and greater appreciation for their respective work and the art of film.

Admission is Pay What You Will.

The films will be shown at 7 p.m.

Upcoming Schedule

  • Thursday, March 15 – “Big Sonia”: Big Sonia explores what it means to be a survivor and how this affects families and generations. Will you let your trauma define you? Or will your past make you stronger? By Leah Warshawski.
  • Thursday, April 19 – “Ghost Town to Havana”: Ghost Town to Havana is a heartbreaking, funny and inspirational story about mentorship, life, love, kids and baseball in Oakland and Havana today. By Eugene Corr.
